The Command operates approximately 130 non-combatant, civilian-crewed ships that replenish U.S. Navy ships, conduct specialized missions, strategically preposition combat cargo at sea around the world and move military cargo and supplies used by deployed U.S. forces and coalition partners. (MSC) Civilian Mariners (CIVMARS) may live anywhere and will be assigned to perform duties while on ship from one of (2) ports of operation: Norfolk, VA or San Diego, CA.
