Check out www.aayouthworks.org, an on-line catalog that was created by the Anne Arundel County Youth Council and maintained by the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation. Its purpose is to provide youths, parents, and youth service organizations with up-to-date information on those services and programs to assist young adults.
Drop-out Prevention
AAWDC funds a Drop-out Prevention program called WAGES (Work- maturity And Growing Employability Skills) at North County High School in Anne Arundel County. This program provides at-risk, high school students with services designed to improve academics, increase attendance, explore careers and post secondary education opportunities, and develop workplace readiness skills. GED Assistance and Career Exploration
AAWDC funds a GED Assistance and Career Exploration program called Step-Up to Success. The Anne Arundel Community College runs this program for out-of-school young adults, ages 16-21. This program assists Anne Arundel County young adults with obtaining their General Educational Development (GED) and National Retail Federation Customer Service certification, participating in career exploration and job readiness activities and providing access to continuing education opportunities.
