AAWDC, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, operates a variety of programs to meet the workforce needs of Anne Arundel County’s Veterans:

  • Job Search Assistance - Includes Assessment of employment and training needs, Labor Market Information, and referrals to career opportunities.
  • Job Fairs – AAWDC, with partners including Fort Meade and Anne Arundel Community College, hosts at least seven large job fairs each year, including events targeted to Veterans.
  • Training – Assessment of training eligibility and qualifications; information on training opportunities and referrals of eligible Veterans to training programs, including the Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation as well as other approved VA and Workforce Investment Act training programs.
  • Job Listings – In addition to the array of job information available to all job seekers, Veteran job seekers have access to Veteran-targeted job opportunities including Federal Career Opportunities and Federal Contractor job listings,
  • Licensing and Certification – Information on programs to obtained State-recognized job credentials for skills acquired during military service.
  • Disabled Veterans – Includes services to Wounded and Severely Injured returning Veterans, and Federal job opportunities through the Disabled Veterans Hiring Initiative.
  • Transition Assistance Programs – For individuals about to separate from military service.
  • Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act – Assistance to Reservist and National Guardsman returning from deployment
  • Supportive Services – Through partnerships with other agencies, AAWDC provides information and referrals to a variety of supportive services for Veterans.
