SCSEP began as part of the War on Poverty 40 years ago and was so successful that it became a national program under the Older Americans Act in 1973. SCSEP is funded by Senior
Service America, Incorporated by a grant from U. S. Department of Labor and is administered locally by AAWDC.
The program provides a win-win for participants and their communities. Participants help community and Government organizations extend their reach and capabilities, while developing their own job skills, self-confidence, and a restored sense of self-worth.
To participate in SCSEP, a person must be:
- Age 55 or older
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Anne Arundel County Resident
- Meet income eligibility requirements
SCSEP focuses on the training and employment needs of the
mature worker and serves over 100 Anne Arundel County residents
annually. SCSEP participants come from all walks of life, have
diverse work experiences, and possess various levels of education.
