Maryland Workforce Exchange Link

AAWDC, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, operates a variety of programs to meet the workforce needs of Anne Arundel County businesses:

  • Recruitment Services - Include job postings on the Maryland Workforce Exchange, assistance with mass recruitments at the employer’s site or other venue, provision of space in One-Stop Career Centers for recruitments, applicant prescreening, pre-employment skills assessment, and applicant searches in Maryland Workforce Exchange.
  • Job Fairs – AAWDC, in partnership with entities such as Fort Meade and Anne Arundel Community College, hosts at least seven large job fairs each year. In addition, in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, AAWDC facilitates job fairs in each of the county’s public high schools in the spring to connect businesses and summer job seekers. AAWDC can also provide custom job fairs for businesses.
  • Training – Funds for incumbent worker training may be available for new workers or training in cybersecurity and green techniques. AAWDC also works closely with the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and Anne Arundel Community College's Center for Workforce Solutions to identify other training solutions for businesses.
  • Access to Specific Applicant Populations – While AAWDC’s job seeker services are available to all Anne Arundel County residents, AAWDC administers programs targeted at specific applicant groups including professional, managerial and technical job seekers, veterans, older workers, persons with disabilities, public assistance recipients, and offenders.
  • Downsizing Assistance – Programs for employees facing downsizing include orientation to One-Stop services, career development workshops, individual career coaching and career assessment, job search seminars, resume preparation and retraining programs. AAWDC maintains a talent bank of unemployed individuals.
  • Tax Credits – Federal and State tax credits are incentives for employers to hire individuals from targeted population groups. These tax credits reduce an employer’s cost of doing business and require little paperwork.
    • The Vow to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 (P.L. 112-56)
  • Federal Bonding Program – Provides fidelity bonding for individuals who are not eligible for commercial bonding.
  • Labor Market Information – Through the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, AAWDC can provide data on wages, demographics, commuter patterns, unemployment, industry, and workforce trends.
  • Business Networking Forums - Periodic meetings for businesses providing presentations on topics of interest to businesses as well as networking opportunities.
