Representing both public and private sector organizations, the Anne Arundel LWIB provides leadership, direction and policy oversight for the workforce delivery system in Anne Arundel County. The Board also advises the County on the expenditures of Federal, State, and County funds to implement the County’s workforce development system, including the One-Stop Career Centers. The Board’s guidance fosters collaboration among local businesses and the public and private sectors in meeting the County’s workforce development needs.

Workforce priorities set by the Anne Arundel LWIB:

• Ensure that the County’s workforce is well-prepared to meet the current and future needs of local businesses.
• Maintain a quality One-Stop system that provides all job seekers with job search resources, internet access and computer lab, resume and cover letter assistance, workshops, seminars, and training, referrals to veterans employment and training services, and vocational rehabilitation for persons with disabilities.
• Ensure that all businesses have access to labor market information, training and recruitment resources to maintain a strong workforce.
• Ensure that Anne Arundel County has an available and skilled workforce to meet the demand of the new jobs coming to the County as a result of the 2005 BRAC.
• Ensure that all qualified individuals have access to training that will equip them with the skills needed in the County’s high-growth and high-demand industry sectors.
• Provide County youth with support, resources and training to prepare them for the current and future labor market.
• Ensure Anne Arundel County has a public workforce transportation system to connect workers and businesses.

LWIB Membership:

Mandated by the Federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), the Anne Arundel LWIB is composed of representatives of the local business community (51%), with the remaining 49% representing WIA-mandated partners including Local Education Labor Unions, Community Based Organizations, Economic Development and One-Stop partners. All Anne Arundel LWIB members are appointed by the County Executive.
